Where did you train?

Royal Academy of Dance - London

Malton and Norton Teacher of the Year

Highlight of career

Being awarded a place as an associate of The Royal Ballet school and more recently being able to perform with two of my daughters in the Dance Expression 10 Year anniversary show!

My Story

I started dancing when I was 3 years old.  I’ve always loved to dance!  As a child I was very lucky to receive much recognition for my achievements including several Ballet Championships and attending York Scholars for 5 years. I was also a Junior Associate with the prestigious Royal Ballet School.

After securing numerous offers to attend further dance training, I made the decision that my heart was in teaching and decided to follow that passion, leading me to the exceptional Royal Academy of Dance in London, where, following three years of hard work, I gained my full RAD teachers status, validated by Durham University. I also was successful in securing my IDTA and LAMDA teachers qualification.

What do you love about dancing?

My love of dance stems from my love of music! I find dancing a way of expressing myself, something which makes you feel like you have no cares in the world.

What do you like about working at Dance Expression?

I love the close family unit of my colleagues and the inspiring pupils that we teach.
I also feel privileged and proud to teach in such fabulous studios!

What's your favourite thing about teaching?

The pleasure you get from watching the children grow and improve but also watching their confidence blossom. It feels great to know that you’ve been part of helping them to grow into confident young adults. I love to inspire children and get great pleasure from creating genuine positive relationships with my students.

Miss Lucy is really encouraging, kind, easy to approach and gets the best out of the kids!
