TAP DANCE
Tap is an energetic style of dance which is a vital part of the jazz music culture. It focuses on both rhythm and musicality as well as different styles of dance.
Tap dance classes start from age 5. Please note that all our classes are based on ability, rather than age.
What are the benefits of tap dance lessons?
- Improves rhythm and coordination
- Musicality
- Increases cardiovascular conditioning
- Strengthens the legs and feet
- Flexibility in hips, knees and ankles
- Develops both mental and muscle memory
Tap exams
Our dancers can focus on skills that will lead to qualifications from preparatory to advanced levels of qualifications with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). The qualifications gained can also count as UCAS points in the vocational grades.
Exams are not compulsory but are encouraged. The main emphasis of the classes is to enjoy the style of dance!
Tap dance performances
Parents and family are invited to either a “Watch Week” where you can view how your child is progressing or to a show.
Most of our Tap classes perform in one of our annual shows depending on exam dates.
